Design and Characterization of Al–Co–La–Bi Multicomponent Immiscible Alloys with Liquid Phase Separation and an Amorphous Phase Formation

چکیده
An immiscible alloy with an amorphous phase, Al–Co–La–Bi, was designed by the combination of empirical parameters mixing entropy, predicted ground state diagram constructed Materials Project for database ab initio calculations, and thermodynamic calculations using FactSage software FTlite database. The solidification microstructure rapidly solidified melt-spun ribbons Al–Co–La–Bi investigated focusing on distribution Bi liquid phase separation behavior. Liquid-phase formation occurred simultaneously in alloy, resulting Bi–La intermetallic globules embedded Al–Co–La-based matrix. STEM observation clarified oxygen-enriched double shell layers alloy.
